It’s time for some more tennis predictions today as we head ever deeper into the Madrid Open draw. This time around, I’ve covered a very exciting clash between Fritz and Rublev in the semi-finals, and I’ve discussed my tips for the game within.
Our favourite Taylor Fritz vs Andrey Rublev predictions
Contents
Who will make it into the finals of the 2024 Madrid Open from the bottom half of the draw? Will it be Fritz or Rublev? That is the question that tennis pundits want answers to right now, and I believe I’ve got the most logical, probable outcome for this match below:
Rublev to win @ 13/20 (1.65)
Rublev might not have Fritz’s number in the head to head department, but I believe he has his number on clay. The one and only time they’ve played on clay, Rublev came through with the win – back in Monte Carlo in 2023. Additionally, he has just taken out Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals, which is a huge victory.
Under 24.5 games @ 3/4 (1.75)
My second prediction could come through regardless of whether Rublev actually wins the match or not. Of course, in an ideal world, we want Rublev to win and for the match to have fewer than 24.5 games, as this would bring both wagers home. I think this could well happen given how Rublev has played this week, as he has grown in confidence, not to mention that his game stacks up well against Fritz’s on the dirt.
Taylor Fritz vs Andrey Rublev odds
The latest odds indicate that Fritz has a 46.50% chance of victory compared to a 60.60% probability of victory for Rublev.
Rublev or Fritz to make it into the 2024 Madrid Open final?
Let me share a quick preview for these individuals before the semi-final arrives on May 3rd.
Taylor Fritz preview
Taylor Fritz has made history this week by becoming the first American male to ever make the semis in Madrid. This is quite an achievement, but I’m sure he won’t want to stop there. As for his results this week, he’s taken out Hurkacz, Baez, and Cerundolo in the last round to make it here. This is a solid string of results, but Rublev is a very different opponent from the others.
Andrey Rublev preview
It’s funny – I wouldn’t put Rublev down as a great clay court player. But he seems to produce the goods on this surface, plus his only Masters 1000 title was on clay in 2023. This would make it seem like he actually has a great clay court game, and he showed those skills against Alcaraz in the quarters. For me, if he produces that level against Fritz, it’s Rublev who will make the finals.
Fritz vs Rublev head to head
Fritz holds a commanding record over Rublev in the head to head department, with a 5-3 win/loss record against the Russian. However, they’ve only played once on clay, and Rublev won that encounter back in 2023.
