Both of these finalists weren’t necessarily expected to be competing for the title this week. After all, Tsitsipas has experienced a lacklustre season so far, while Ruud hasn’t found his best form for quite some time either. However, they both love the clay, and I expect a close encounter this afternoon.

So for me, I think he has the edge over Tsitsipas today, especially since he’s already beaten him in 2024.

However, he lost to Ruud in straight sets earlier this season, and he does have a losing H2H against the Norwegian.

Casper Ruud finally looks like he’s back where he belongs. At 10 in the world, he’s obviously a top player across all surfaces, but clay is certainly his thing.
