Stan Wawrinka vs Aleksandar Vukic Predictions and Odds: Indian Wells

Wawrinka has not made it past the first round of a Masters tournament since Rome in May 2022. Vukic will be trying to match his best result, which he achieved in Indian Wells two years ago. Take a look at the predictions and best bets available for this match.

Stan Wawrinka vs Aleksandar Vukic Match Predictions

Despite being past his best days, Wawrinka still has enough in the tank to pull off the occasional upset. Vukic is playing in the main draw of a Masters tournament for the first time since 2021.

Wawrinka -1.5 Sets

Again, while far from his Slam-winning form, Wawrinka is still a better player than Vukic. The Swiss failed to make it past the first round of a Masters tournament in the last three attempts, but this could very well change this time around.

Vukic did well to qualify for his first Masters 1000 main draw since Indian Wells 2021, but the Australian’s recent form doesn’t inspire much confidence. The 26-year old has only made it past the second round once in three Challengers this year. Wawrinka has a good chance of wrapping this one up in straight sets, and at a very good value.

Under 22.5 Games

Again, this is betting on Wawrinka wrapping up the match in straight sets, making this line extremely generous. Both the Swiss and the Aussie play an aggressive brand of tennis, with plenty of winners and unforced errors. But Wawrinka will have the upper hand in breaks, while Vukic will probably struggle to take serve games away from his opponent.

Stan Wawrinka vs Aleksandar Vukic Preview

Next, let’s take a look at how Wawrinka and Vukic have made it to this match.

Stan Wawrinka

The three-time Slam winner struggled with injuries during last summer, leading to a disappointing run of first round exits. Despite hinting at retirement, “Stan the Man” has bounced back to start 2023. The soon-to-be 38-year old is coming off back-to-back quarter finals appearances at the last two ATP 500 tournaments.

Following a first round loss at the hands of Alex Molcan in Melbourne to open his 2023 campaign, Wawrinka followed it up with two good showings in Rotterdam and Marseille. He has a chance to keep the run going in California this week.

Aleksandar Vukic

Vukic was on the rise in 2020 and 2021, reaching a career high in the rankings and climbing into the top 120 for the first time. But the Australian had a poor run of results that ultimately dropped him outside the top 150. His results improved in November, but his form has oscillated at the start of 2023.

On the positive side, the 26-year old reached the Australian Open main draw. He also pulled off an upset at the Delray Beach Open. After sneaking into the main draw as a lucky loser, Vukic beat Christopher Eubanks one day after losing his qualifying match against the American. But his most recent results were somewhat disappointing, as the Aussie failed to make it past the quarterfinals in two Challenger 75 tournaments.
