From time to time, matches come up in major tournaments where there is a distinct possibility of an upset. This brings me to my tennis predictions today for Kenin vs Garcia in round two of the 2024 French Open. Let me share my two cents on this match now.
Our favourite Sofia Kenin vs Caroline Garcia predictions
Contents
Coming into this match, Sofia Kenin is ranked outside of the top 50. As for Caroline Garcia, she’s seeded 21 at Roland Garros, showing that she is ranked much higher than Kenin. However, it’s Kenin who has won both of their previous encounters, leading me to the following two predictions:
Kenin to win @ 11/8 (2.38)
Sofia Kenin is still very much on the comeback trail, but she’s showing signs that she’s finding her best tennis once again. Sure, she had a tough battle with Siegemund in round one, but people tend to forget that she’s been a runner-up at this tournament in the past. Additionally, Garcia hasn’t been at her best recently.
Kenin +3.5 games handicap @ 7/10 (1.70)
Given that I truly believe Kenin will claim victory here, it seems like a solid move to cover the +3.5 games handicap market, too. For this to occur, it will automatically be a winner if Kenin comes out on top. And it will be a winner if Kenin pushes Garcia right down to the wire.
Sofia Kenin vs Caroline Garcia odds
The moneyline odds are interesting for this clash – showing that Kenin has a 42.10% chance while the probability for Garcia is 65.20%.
Can Kenin produce the upset against Garcia in round two?
Before these two clash in the French Open on May 29th, I wish to share some more background information for each individual.
Sofia Kenin preview
As a previous runner-up at the French Open, we all know what Kenin can do on the red clay in Paris. But this was a few years ago now, and she’s no doubt eager to replicate the success of those times. Adding to that, while she’s still ranked outside of the top 50, she has scalped big names in recent weeks, such as Ons Jabeur.
Caroline Garcia preview
Garcia is favoured to take the win here, as per the latest odds. She’s ranked 23 in the world, but she hasn’t made a deep-draw run in either of the previous 1000-level clay court events of 2024. She also needed three sets to get beyond a qualifier in round one, which suggests she’s there for the taking in this match.
Kenin vs Garcia head to head
These two have played twice in the past, and it is Sofia Kenin who took the win on both occasions. This makes the head to head 2-0 in favour of the American. However, both matches were played a long time ago – one in 2019 and one in 2018.
