San Diego Open order of play – Thursday, September 14

We are at the final day of competition, and there are only four competitors remaining in the singles and four pairings in the doubles. So far, the outcomes have been quite surprising, as several of the favorites did not advance to this stage.

The lone top seed in the competition is Czech Barbora Krejcikova, who has two straight-set wins. Danielle Collins, one of three local players who qualified for the semifinals, will now meet her.

Sofia Kenin and Emma Navarro are the other pair of American players in the other key. Kenin earned her place in this round after defeating Veronika Kudemertova and Anastasia Porapova. Emma Navarro’s performance is especially noteworthy, as she began in the qualifying round and has already won five times in this tournament, four of them in straight sets.

Barbora Krejcikova is the star once more, but this time in doubles, where she teams up with her compatriot Katerina Siniakova. They are the number one seeds and thus the favorites to win the championship. They will now face Japan’s Miyu Kati and Poland’s Aldila Sutjiadi, both of whom have knocked out Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos and South Korea’s Hao-Ching Chan.

Danielle Collins, another semi-finalist in singles and doubles, will pair up with Coco Vandeweghe for a place in the final to round out the semi-finals. The Americans were responsible for the elimination of Kichenok and Ostapenko. The Asian combo of Ahuko Aoyama and Zhaoxuan Yang will be on the opposing side of the court.
