The Barcelona Open is the main focus for our range of tennis predictions today, with good reason. It’s an important clay court event that is packed with big names. However, I’ve picked Bautista Agut vs Norrie today to give you a couple of quick betting tips.
Our favourite Roberto Bautista Agut vs Cameron Norrie predictions
Contents
It’s commendable that Bautista Agut is still plodding along at the ripe old age of 36. He’s been around the block, you could say, and I’m sure he’s motivated to produce an upset against the 12th seed in this event. But Norrie is a difficult clay court opponent due to his style of play, which brings me to the following predictions:
Bautista Agut to win @ 23/20 (2.15)
I know that Cam Norrie is favoured to win here, but I see real value in going for Bautista Agut to get the win. He is a seriously plucky player, and with Norrie’s recent string of subpar results, I believe Bautista Agut can cause him problems and take out the 12th seed.
Bautista Agut +3.5 games handicap @ 10/11 (1.91)
Since I believe the Spanish veteran can beat Norrie, it’s also a good play to cover the +3.5 games handicap option. This would also pull through if Bautista Agut wins, of course. But even if he falls just short, this market could still prove to be a winner.
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Cameron Norrie odds
Bautista Agut has a 46.50% chance of winning here, while the probability for Norrie is 60.60%, based on the latest odds.
Can Bautista Agut score an upset in front of home fans?
I’ve given my predictions for this game above, but let’s move on to a preview for both guys now ahead of the game.
Roberto Bautista Agut preview
Bautista Agut is a true tour veteran, although clay hasn’t always been his favourite surface. In fact, his flat style is best suited to hard courts really, but he can play solid tennis on the red clay. This is confirmed by the fact that he scored two big wins to qualify for Monte Carlo last week before winning a main draw match too. And with the home crowd behind him, I reckon he has a shot against Norrie.
Cameron Norrie preview
Cam Norrie is ranked much higher than Bautista Agut right now, but he’s tumbled down from his career high, which saw him in the top 10. This shows his results haven’t been as stellar recently, which I believe makes him vulnerable against a guy like Bautista Agut. He also endured a surprise loss to Khachanov last week, so I doubt he’s feeling confident.
Bautista Agut vs Norrie head to head
The head-to-head between these two certainly looks better for Norrie than it does for Bautista Agut. Norrie has a 2-0 lead over the Spaniard, although their last encounter was in 2021, which was quite some time ago.
