The 2024 US Open is officially starting on August 26th. And already, we have some fiery matches to look forward to. On that note, I’ve produced my tennis predictions today for an intriguing match between Zheng and Anisimova – as discussed below.
Our favourite Qinwen Zheng vs Amanda Anisimova predictions
Of all the American players in the draw this year, Amanda Anisimova is perhaps the most unexpected ‘danger player’ of the bunch. I say this as she made a run to the finals of Toronto – a 1000-level event despite being ranked outside the world’s top 50. As for Zheng, she’s an established top-10 player these days, and she recently won a Gold Medal at the Olympics.
Therefore, I’ve weighed things up and come up with the following two predictions for the match:
Zheng to win @ 8/15 (1.53)
The fact that you can get such odds on a top seed to win the first round of the US Open is very enticing. With that in mind, I feel this is a good bet, as Zheng did win Olympic Gold just a few weeks ago. And at the same time, she’s ranked far higher than Anisimova.
Over 21.5 games @ 17/20 (1.85)
Although I believe that Zheng will win, this one might not be straightforward. Anisimova played incredible tennis just a few weeks back to reach the finals in Toronto, and if she brings such form here, this one could be very tight indeed.
Qinwen Zheng vs Amanda Anisimova odds
As indicated by the latest odds for this match, Zheng has a 65.20% chance of victory here while the probability for Anisimova is 41.70%.
Tricky opener for 7th seed against American wildcard
This is one of the best first rounds to watch for the 2024 US Open women’s singles, but let’s look at some more details for these two before things begin.
Qinwen Zheng preview
As Olympic champion, Qinwen Zheng is no doubt feeling super confident about her tennis right now – and rightfully so! She’s now ranked 7 in the world, too, and this doesn’t just reflect her recent performances. Zheng has been incredibly consistent throughout the year, and I’m sure she will be looking to end her Grand Slam season with a bang.
Amanda Anisimova preview
Thanks to her run to the finals in Toronto, Anisimova has been given a wildcard for the 2024 US Open. At just 22 years of age, she’s one of the most exciting prospects in American tennis right now, and she has the potential to beat Zheng. However, she’s still not super experienced at this level, which is why I think Zheng will get the better of the two in this first-round match.
Zheng vs Anisimova head to head
To make this match all the more enticing, Zheng and Anisimova have never faced each other in a professional tournament. Of course, this makes the H2H records 0-0 between the two.
