Pablo Carreno Busta vs Benjamin Bonzi Prediction and Odds: Australian Open

Pablo Carreno Busta is set to take on Benjamin Bonzi in the second round tonight. Here are my thoughts on the two best wagers to make for this match:

Carreno Busta vs Bonzi – Match Predictions

Carreno Busta is one of the more consistent guys on tour. He always tends to play to a decent level and produces good results week in and week out. In contrast, Bonzi can be very up and down due to his game style. Anyway, in the second round of the Australian Open, it’s all to play for. Bonzi has a shot to take down the number 14 seed and make it to the third round of the Australian Open for the first time in his career.

As for Carreno Busta, he will be hoping to at least replicate his 4th round performance at the event last year. But since these two guys have never played before, there is no history to indicate how it might swing. Instead, I think the difference in rankings of 15 for Carreno Busta and 48 for Bonzi tells us all we need to know.

So let me explain the tennis predictions today right now.

Carreno Busta To Win

At the end of the day, despite good form shown by Bonzi recently, Carreno Busta still has the experience needed to win this one. Furthermore, he hasn’t fallen at the second hurdle or less in the Australian Open since 2016. So for me, to shoot for a Carreno Busta victory would be the logical play here.

Bonzi To Win A Set – Yes

Bonzi is quite a big hitter of the ball when he gets going. And just a couple of weeks back he did make the finals in one of the Australian Open warm-up events. So this will no doubt give him the confidence to believe he can win. Adding to that, big hitters can often snatch a set off the top guys in the early rounds.

Carreno Busta vs Bonzi Preview

These two players are at different stages in their careers and they have quite different form books to report on:

Pablo Carreno Busta Preview

At the moment, Carreno Busta is 15 in the ATP rankings. This makes him a top contender in the Australian Open. He’s also played the main draw in this event nine times compared to one time for Benjamin Bonzi. This shows that he is hugely experienced, and he also loves to play on fast hard courts.

Benjamin Bonzi Preview

Bonzi is almost at his career-high ranking at the moment. His ranking is 48, and his all-time career high is 44. So he’s obviously towards the top of his game right now, as proven by the finals appearance in India. Yet he is playing a Spaniard who makes plenty of balls and can nudge him from corner to corner.

Carreno Busta vs Bonzi Head to Head

There is no head-to-head record for these two as they have never played before, unfortunately.
