Ons Jabeur vs Paula Badosa Prediction and Odds: Italian Open 2023

4th seed, Ons Jabeur, will take on Paula Badosa in the second round of the Italian Open. But what should you be betting on for this match? Read on for more details.

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Jabeur vs Badosa – Match Predictions

Ons Jabeur has established herself at the very top of the women’s game in recent years. She’s challenged for Grand Slam titles, and she is pretty handy on the clay. Then again, her opponent, Paula Badosa, is finding her feet again, and she produced some great tennis recently at the Madrid Open.

2023 Italian Open

Jabeur actually missed that tournament due to injury, so her physical status is somewhat questionable going into this match. This does have a bearing on my tennis predictions today for this match, as you can see below.

Badosa to Win

Believe it or not, Badosa has a 3-1 head-to-head lead over Ons Jabeur. And the last time they played was on clay in 2022. Badosa won this meeting, and she has been more active during the clay season so far. Jabeur had to miss the previous tournament through injury. So taking these factors into account, I’m going for Badosa to win.

Three Total Sets

Interestingly, all but one of their previous meetings have gone the distance. So to shoot for another three-set match seems logical, even if Jabeur has been absent from recent events. Furthermore, Jabeur is a pretty tricky player, and she can frustrate opponents into blowing a set – or even two. But just to clarify, I believe Jabeur can grab one set at most, hence the suggested wager here.

Jabeur vs Badosa Preview

If you are interested in looking at a few more details relating to these players, take a look at the previews presented here.

Ons Jabeur Preview

Following the results at the Madrid Open, Jabeur has dropped to number 7 in the rankings. However, she is seeded 3 here because the Italian Open draw was made before the new rankings were released. Adding to that, Jabeur did finish as the runner-up in the 2022 Italian Open, yet her injury concerns are a worry going into this one.

Paula Badosa Preview

Badosa has previously been ranked inside the top five in the WTA rankings. So she knows a thing or two about performing on the big stage, as she has shown in the past. And because of that, she won’t be afraid of Jabeur’s seeding or ranking going into this match. Furthermore, Badosa smoked a few top-level players at the Madrid Open just a couple of weeks back! This shows that she’s playing good tennis.

Jabeur vs Badosa Head to Head

As things stand, Badosa has a 3-1 lead over Jabeur concerning the head-to-head. This is a positive for Badosa as far as the mental side of the matchup goes. Additionally, Badosa won the most recent match, which was on clay back in 2022. In contrast, Jabeur has only beaten Badosa on a hard court, and this occurred just once.
