Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner prediction and odds: Australian Open 2024

Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner prediction and odds: Australian Open 2024

Jannik Sinner has been flawless at the 2024 Australian Open. He is the only man yet to lose a set, yet his biggest test comes next against Novak Djokovic. So, how are my tennis predictions today shaping up ahead of this mouth-watering semi-final? Read on to find out.

Our favourite Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner predictions

Sinner is the man who many tipped to claim his first Grand Slam title in 2024. And to be honest, he is looking like the biggest threat out of the young guns to come and challenge for the throne. However, the world number one and ten-time champion stands in his way in the Australian Open semi-finals.

So, how are the markets looking and what should you be betting on?

Djokovic to win 3-1 @ 3/1 (4.00)

If you look back through the Australian Open draw, a familiar pattern has emerged. That pattern is Novak Djokovic getting stronger as the draw progresses, and he looked to be very sharp indeed against Taylor Fritz. With that said, Sinner has beaten him twice at the end of the 2023 season, and he had a 2-0 lead against him at Wimbledon a few years back.

This makes me think he can grab a set, but I feel Djokovic will get the job done in four.

Djokovic -3.5 games handicap @ 17/20 (1.85)

Over the course of a four-set match, I certainly think that Novak Djokovic can put at least a 4 game spread between himself and Sinner. And the beauty of this market is that it could still come through even if the match doesn’t end 3-1 for Djokovic. So I believe it is the perfect addition to the previous tip.

Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner odds

At the current odds, the chance for Sinner to win this one is 37.00%, while Djokovic’s probability is 69.20%.

Djokovic looks to humble the formidable Italian on Rod Laver Arena

This is Sinner’s first time at the semi-final stage in Melbourne, while it’s a completely different story for Djokovic. But to add to that, let me give some further details in the following previews:

Novak Djokovic preview

This man is somewhat of a God when he enters Rod Laver Arena. Having won the Australian Open ten times, he will fancy his chances against Sinner, who is in just his second Grand Slam semi-final. I must also say Djokovic has been fantastic over the last three rounds, and he holds a 2-0 head-to-head over Sinner in Grand Slam matches.

Jannik Sinner preview

Sinner hasn’t dropped a set, up to this point, which is quite remarkable. However, he hasn’t faced anyone close to Djokovic’s level, which could prove problematic, especially at the start of the match. And while he has beaten Djokovic in two of their last three meetings, he has never done so over five sets.

Djokovic vs Sinner head to head

Djokovic holds a slender lead over Sinner in the head-to-head records at 4-2. To add to that, two of his four wins over Sinner have been in Grand Slam semi-finals. As for Sinner’s wins, they’ve come in best of three matches on indoor hard courts.
