Nakashima is currently ranked at no. 54 in the ATP rankings, 11 spots lower than his career best. The American is 7-10 for the season and 0-1 on grass. He is coming off a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 loss to Emil Ruusuvuori in the opening round of the Rosmalen Open last week.

Last season, Nakashima won two titles in San Diego and the Next Gen Finals tournament which is the highlight of his career. His best result this season is the semifinal in Lyon where he lost to Arthur Fils in the decisive tie break.
