In an interesting first-round encounter, Giron will take on Garin for a spot in the Miami Open second round. But who will pull through and what should you be backing? Take a look here.
These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.
Giron vs Garin – Match Predictions
Contents
Home favorite, Marcos Giron, will be going up against Cristian Garin in the first round of the 2023 Miami Open. This is a match that will see contrasting styles do battle, and the stage is set for a pretty intriguing game here. But when you weigh up a few variables such as form, ranking, and confidence, I think that Garin will be the winner.
However, as with all of the tennis predictions today that I’ve provided, this doesn’t mean that you should only back the match winner. In fact, there are several other markets that you could consider backing too. Yet I’ve focused on the following two as they provide great value:
Garin To Win
Cristian Garin is a true warrior on the court when he is in the right mood. And while he hasn’t had the greatest 12-18 months, there were signs of his former self at Indian Wells last week. In total, Garin won five matches to make the 4th round of the tournament, and he beat Casper Ruud in the process. As for the Miami Open, he has qualified once again, so he’s in great form and I feel he will win this one.
Three Total Sets
Although my prediction is for Garin to win this match, it won’t be easy. Marcos Giron is a dangerous player, and he will have the home crowd on his side in Miami. Furthermore, in their one and only previous match, the game went four sets – since it was a Grand Slam match. So it’s not out of the equation for this match to go the distance.
Giron vs Garin Preview
Now that you’ve digested my predictions ahead of this match, let’s take things further with a quick preview for both guys.
Marcos Giron Preview
Giron is currently ranked 71 in the world, which makes him the higher-ranked player going into this one. As for his 2023 season, it hasn’t been phenomenal, although it has been steady. But based on his most recent tournament (Indian Wells), he’s not a player who I’d describe as ‘in form’.
Cristian Garin Preview
Garin is currently ranked 82 in the world, although he was a top 20 player just a few years ago. And while he is definitely more of a grinder, which makes him suited to clay rather than hard, he can still produce the results on this surface. This was proven by the 4th round run at Indian Wells last week.
Giron vs Garin Head to Head
There is just one official match on the record for these guys in the head-to-head department. This match was played at the 2021 Roland Garros event, which Garin won in four sets. Yet since this was played on clay, we shouldn’t read too much into that result ahead of this clash.
