More tennis predictions today are coming your way for the 2024 Italian Open right here. This time, I’ve covered Giron vs Rublev in what could be a fiery encounter. Read on for my predictions and justifications for the recommended markets.
Our favourite Marcos Giron vs Andrey Rublev predictions
Contents
After winning the 2024 Madrid Open, Andrey Rublev comes into the Italian Open as one of the favourites. Of course, it’s a different story for Giron, who is ranked 49 in the world and has struggled to produce many wins on the clay in 2024. Because of these factors, I’d like to recommend the following markets for this clash:
Rublev to win 2-0 @ 2/5 (1.40)
Based on just how heavily Rublev is favoured to get the win here, there isn’t much value in backing him unless you take a 2-0 result. That said, it’s very likely that he will get the win in straight sets given the way he has been playing.
Giron +5.5 games handicap @ 4/6 (1.67)
With a 5.5 game handicap as the fixed margin here, I find it a tall ask for Rublev to put such distance between himself and Giron. However, if Giron serves well, as he did to beat Ruusuvuori in round one, I believe he can make this market happen.
Marcos Giron vs Andrey Rublev odds
The latest odds show that Giron has a mere 15.40% chance of victory here. As for Rublev’s probability of winning this match, things look much better at 90.90%.
Rublev hoping to keep clay court form rolling against Giron
After covering my tips for the match, let’s look at how things are shaping up for Rublev and Giron ahead of this match.
Marcos Giron preview
Apart from a couple of clay court wins in a 250 event in the USA, Giron hasn’t won a single clay court match in the bigger events. His last tournament was a Challenger, in which he went out in the opening round. Naturally, this doesn’t bode too well for his chances against one of the most in-form players on tour right now.
Andrey Rublev preview
After picking up his second Masters 1000 title in Madrid last week, it’s fair to say that Rublev is flying high at the moment. He must be feeling on top of the world, and his new ranking of number 6 will give him even more confidence at the Italian Open. At the same time, Giron is ranked much lower than the kind of players he has taken out in recent weeks. So really, it would be highly surprising if Giron caused him too many problems here.
Giron vs Rublev head to head
Surprisingly, these two have only played once before, and this was back in 2021. The game was played on indoor hard courts, and Rublev got the win in straight sets, making the head to head record 1-0 in his favour.
