His overall record would be much better but he lost all 6 matches played in clay this season. McDonald is coming off a opening round 6-2, 6-4 loss to Diego Schwartzman in the Queen’s Club Championships after he defeated Jeremy Chardy and JJ Wolf in the qualifiers. McDonald’s best result this season was the semifinal in Delray Beach where he lost to Taylor Fritz.
