Madison Keys vs Xinyu Wang Prediction and Odds: Australian Open

Tenth seed American Madison Keys takes on China’s Xinyu Wang in the second round of the Australian Open. Which player will progress to the third round?

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Madison Keys vs Xinyu Wang – Match Predictions

Keys defeated Russia’s Blinkova over three sets on Monday, whereas Wang beat home fan’s favourite Storm Sanders in straight sets. With the Women’s Draw now in full flow, here are our tennis predictions ahead of this clash.

Keys To Win

With a 74% win record at the Australian Open, her best at any of the Grand Slams, Keys will be confident of progressing to the third round for the seventh successive time in Melbourne. Although she was not at her best against Blinkova in the first round, we expect Keys’ greater experience and record at the Australian Open to count in her favour. Xinyu served six double-faults across her two set win on Monday and if she does the same in this match then Keys will take full advantage.

Xinyu Wang To Win A Set – Yes

It would be a big upset and a statement victory for the World Number 53 if Wang was to progress to the third round. Over the course of a best of three sets match, we fully expect Keys to win but the way Wang played in the first round showed that she will cause the American some problems. Wang won three of her four break points against Sanders and, with a ruthlessness like that, we expect her to take a set in this match.

Madison Keys vs Xinyu Wang Preview

Having studied our tennis predictions for the Australian Open, we now look at the form of the two players as they are set to go head-to-head.

Madison Keys

Although it is over six years since Keys enjoyed her career highest ranking of no.7, last year, here in Melbourne, she reached her first Grand Slam semi-final since 2018. She was beaten by eventual winner Ash Barty in straight sets but went on to reach the fourth round in Paris and the third round in New York later in the year. She has raked in $15,478,342 across her career so far.

Xinyu Wang

This is the seventh Grand Slam that 21 year old Wang has competed in but it is only the second time that she has progressed beyond the first round. The only previous time she achieved this was in the 2022 Australian Open when she defeated Ann Li in straight sets before being dumped out of the competition by Aryna Sabalenka.
