Keys’ return to the WTA tour did not go according to the plan at Indian Wells. She was humbled in the second round by Yulia Putintseva and now turns her attention towards the Miami Open.
It is the Amerincan’s thirteenth foray at the hollowed courts of Hard Rock Stadium. Her best run here came back in the 2016 edition, where she reached the quarter-final stage. As the 17th seed, Keys is in with a shout but will not count on it with the stacked roster around her.

Xinyu Wang did not pose Madison Keys any problem as she was ousted in straight sets. In the Miami Open fourth round, the American will go from favourite to underdog as she lock horns with Elena Rybakina.
The Kazakh ace has not been at her best, struggling to get the wins under her belt. Both of her prior duels were three-set affairs and she will have to give an improved account of her abilities as she trails Keys 2-1 in H2H affairs.
Madison Keys’ 2023 campaign so far
This season, the experienced tennis player has won a couple of awards. The first came at the United Cup, where she competed alongside Jessica Pegula, Frances Tiafoe, and Taylor Fritz, who formed the US Team.
It took Keys six months to earn her maiden singles title. Madison had numerous excellent moments in Eastbourne that helped her win the championship.
This season, Madison’s debt has been her poor performance in important tournaments. So far, she had not advanced past the third round of a Grand Slam and has only reached the quarterfinals of a Masters tournament.
