Don’t we all love this time of year? The North American hard-court swing has officially arrived, and my tennis predictions today are back! That said, I’ve picked a classic to cover here in the form of Nishikori vs Tsitsipas – check out the best markets to cover below.
Our favourite Kei Nishikori vs Stefanos Tsitsipas predictions
The gap between these guys is huge at the moment, with Nishikori competing under a PR status. But we all know how well the Japanese man can play if he gets confident, and I’m sure Tsitsipas knows it, too. Therefore, I’ve established the following two predictions, which I believe show value ahead of this clash:
Nishikori to win a set – yes @ 11/8 (2.38)
Nishikori is the massive underdog in this match. But following his win over Michelsen, and because he likes the quick hard courts of Canada, I think he could snatch a set from Tsitsipas. This is all the more likely if he gets off to a quick start!
Over 21.5 games @ 4/5 (1.80)
Although I have a feeling that Nishikori can take a set from the 8th seed, I still believe that Tsitsipas will win. And that’s why I’m shooting for the match to have over 21.5 games, which suggests a Tsitsipas comeback if he drops the opener.
Kei Nishikori vs Stefanos Tsitsipas odds
I’ve looked at the latest moneyline odds for this second round clash and it seems Nishikori has a 22.20% chance of victory compared with an 84.60% probability for Tsitsipas.
Veteran set to challenge 8th seed in Montreal
This really is a case of a veteran hoping to show a young gun that he’s still got some game. But let me give you some more details on these guys before things begin.
Kei Nishikori preview
Nishikori seems to be finding a bit of form since his recent return to the ATP Tour. In his opener, he managed to come through a tight match against home-favourite, Michelsen, and this will give him confidence. At the same time, I think it is great for Nishikori that he’s managed to play a match on these courts to get used to them ahead of his battle with the 8th seed.
Stefanos Tsitsipas preview
Following his disappointment of losing to Djokovic at the Paris Olympics, Tsitsipas will no doubt be hungry to rack up the wins in Montreal. However, he has struggled at this point in the season in the past. And it will be interesting to see how effectively he can switch back from clay court tennis to the quick hard courts of Canada.
Nishikori vs Tsitsipas head to head
With the injuries that Nishikori has endured in recent times, it’s not immensely surprising that these two have only played twice. The head to head stands at one win each too. However, with their most recent match coming in 2021, this doesn’t have much influence on the possible outcome here, in my opinion.
