My tennis predictions today are shifting into top gear now that the seeds are starting their campaigns at the 2024 Madrid Open. As for today’s tips, I’m focusing on Boulter vs Montgomery – an intriguing second-round clash in the women’s singles.

Our favourite Katie Boulter vs Robin Montgomery predictions

Katie Boulter is seeded 26th at the Madrid Open, which is definitely unfamiliar territory for her. That said, she’s earned this ranking with a string of great results in 2024, and she should feel good about her game. As for her opponent today, she faces the 19 year old wildcard-entrant, Robin Montgomery – ranked 183 in the world.

With this in mind, let me share and discuss my predictions for this one now:

Montgomery to win a set – yes @ 4/6 (1.67)

I have to say, I was impressed with Montgomery’s tennis in round one. She made quick work of Avanesyan in a 6-2 6-2 drumming. And she didn’t seem overwhelmed by the level of the event, so I feel she can run Boulter close and take a set (if not more).

Montgomery +3.5 games handicap @ 17/20 (1.85)

If Montgomery is able to steal a set from the 26th seed, I have every confidence she will achieve a +3.5 games handicap. Of course, this isn’t easy against a player who is as in-form as Katie Boulter. But her game style and tenacity certainly gives her a shot, and it means this market holds value.

Katie Boulter vs Robin Montgomery odds

The chance of Boulter coming through this one is 69.20% compared to just a 38.10% probability for Montgomery.

You’ve now read through my predictions for this match. But let’s take a closer look at the form, rankings, and subsequent chances at the Madrid Open for these two now.

Katie Boulter preview

It’s been a pretty sensational period for Katie Boulter on the WTA Tour of late. She’s captured the biggest title of her career just weeks ago, and due to her ranking, she finds herself seeded at the Madrid Open. This is a complete contrast from where she was at with her tennis just 12 months ago, but she may feel the pressure because of this.

Robin Montgomery preview

Montgomery gained entry into the main draw of the 2024 Madrid Open thanks to a wildcard. Then again, she certainly made the most of it by producing a commanding win over Avanesyan in the opening round. Furthermore, this 19-year-old seems fearless, and she is pretty handy on the clay, which isn’t necessarily the case for Katie Boulter. So, she will at least fancy her chances to cause problems for the Brit in this match.

Boulter vs Montgomery head to head

With zero head-to-head records to analyse here, it’s clear that this will be the first professional meeting between Boulter and Montgomery.
