Katie Boulter currently holds a ranking of 61, while Peyton Stearns is currently ranked 59th in the world, so we really could be in for a tight game. On both rankings and recent form, there’s little to choose between these two, so much so that a done-and-dusted quick match seems unlikely. This could be something of a slog, and let’s face it, it wouldn’t be the first time this year that the pair have played out a long battle. On US soil (Austin), back in February, Stearns beat Boulter in three sets, but it was a real grind and there really was little to choose between the pair as all three sets went to a tie break, with a total of 39 games played.

Three sets to be played @ 11/10

Following much the same theme here, betting on the match to go the distance seems like a smart move, one that could quite easily be available at shorter odds. All the time 11/10 is on offer, betting on three sets to be played is easy to do. Not only did the pair fight out a three-set match that went one way and then the other earlier in the year, but Boulter comes into this game having battled it out on three sets during the last round, so there can be no surprises if she’s once again embroiled in a tight clash that goes the distance.

Katie Boulter has enjoyed a pretty solid summer on the court. She played many good matches on grass, making the third round at Wimbledon, before losing to the defending champion, while she’s since played some very nice matches on the hard courts. We saw her win in good style during the first round, while she showed her ability to fight for a win in three sets against China’s Yafan Wang last time out, which should hold her in good stead for this tougher test.

Peyton Stearns preview

Peyton Stearns has had a very, very good 2023. The 21-year-old has made marked strides with her game, reaching a WTA Tour final for the first time and achieving a career-high ranking of 55. She’s another player who has impressed since the hard-court season returned, and she’s looked in hot form in front of a home crowd at this US Open, winning each of her matches in good style. Facing Boulter is her biggest challenge yet, so she may need to pull out more, but we know she’s got it in the locker.

Having met earlier in the year, this will be the second time that the pair have faced off on the court. The previous match went the way of Peyton Stearns, who edged it in a three-set thriller.
