Karolina Muchova vs Elena Rybakina – Match Predictions
The quarter-final was the stage where Elena Rybakina came crashing out of this tournament last year and she will be determined to avenge her straight sets defeat by Greece’s Maria Sakkari who went all the way to the final. For Muchova, she is back playing strong tennis after missing large parts of last year through injury. However, this match could prove to be one game too far in this competition.
Total Sets – Three
Although Rybakina has been in fine form across 2023 and has carried that into this tournament, she has had quite an easy ride in terms of opponents so far at Indian Wells. We expect Muchova to provide a much sterner test and to force the quarter-final into a third set decider. We are backing Rybakina to win but not without dropping a set.
Set One Score After Six Games – 3-3
Muchova has won the first set in each of her contests at this BNP Paribas Open but none of them by more than one break of serve. Although both players will be looking to take an early lead in the set, we think they will be extremely well matched in the opening set and expect the first six games to be evenly shared.
