Karen Khachanov vs Sebastian Korda Prediction and Odds: Australian Open

Khachanov is taking on Korda in this very tasty quarter-final match at 2023 Australian Open. As for the top bets to make, here are my recommendations:

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Khachanov vs Korda – Match Predictions

Before the 2023 Australian Open started, you probably wouldn’t have picked these two guys to make the quarter-finals. This is especially true when you look at the sections that they were in. Khachanov has made it through the section that had Rafael Nadal in it, yet Nadal was taken out in the second round, fortunately for the Russian. As for Korda, he actually did face the highest seed in his section. This was the 7th seed and last year’s finalist, Daniil Medvedev.

Of course, Korda won this match and moved on to the 4th round to back this up with a win over the 10th seed, Hurkacz. Anyway, since they’ve both been winning until this point, they’ve set up a huge quarter-final match. This will be the fourth time that these guys have played, and it’s Korda who has the edge with a 2-1 lead. Because of this, and also due to their run so far at the Australian Open, I’ve gone for the following two predictions:

Khachanov to Win

I’m going for the underdog in this game for two reasons. Firstly, Korda has endured some brutal matches to get to this point, and I’m sure his body is feeling it. Secondly, the form that Khachanov has shown in the last couple of rounds has been magnificent. He even ‘double-bagelled’ Nishioka in the first two sets in the last round!

Over 40.5 Games

Although I’ve predicted a win for Khachanov, I don’t think it will be straightforward. In fact, some of the sets could definitely go to breakers since they are both big servers. And I do believe that Korda can easily grab a set from Khachanov. Therefore, a logical wager would be to back the over 40.5 games market.

Khachanov vs Korda Preview

Adding to the tennis predictions today that I’ve shared above, I feel it’s valuable to share a preview for each player too.

Karen Khachanov Preview

Karen Khachanov has really started showing his potential of late. He made the semi-finals of the 2022 US Open on outdoor hard courts. And it would seem this form is continuing as he is now in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open for the first time in his career. In fact, he’d never made it beyond the third round prior to 2023, so the Russian will certainly give his best to get as far as he can here in Melbourne.

Sebastian Korda Preview

Sebastian Korda is definitely one of the most talented and promising guys on tour right now. He is currently ranked 31, and he’s beaten many of the top players in the world, despite being just 22 years of age. And much like Khachanov, this is also his best performance at the Australian Open. He has taken out the 7th and 10th seeds to get to this point, yet this could have taken its toll on him physically as the young American doesn’t have as much experience with going this deep into the Grand Slam tournaments.

Khachanov vs Korda Head to Head

Sebastian Korda has the head-to-head lead over Khachanov. He has beaten the Russian in straight sets in the two most recent matches – both on hard courts. And the sole win for Khachanov came at Wimbledon in 2021.
