Because he is the number 3 seed in this tournament, Shelton didn’t have to play in round one. He went straight to round two, which is where he comfortably beat a fellow American, Michael Mmoh. Additionally, he has beaten Thompson in their one and only meeting in 2022, so I’m sure he will feel confident going into this quarter-final clash.
