This is a big game for Jennifer Brady. Of course, it’s pretty sizable for Magda Linette too, but we’re now getting to the stage where we’ll see if Brady can get back to somewhere near the level she was before her injury. Below are my WTA US Open 2023 predictions for this match:

Over 21.5 Games @ 5/6 (1.85)

This match has the potential to go the distance, which means that we should see plenty of games. Brady has done a superb job to get back to this level and she’s already beaten some top competitors, beating the likes of Ostapenko in Montreal, though she’s tended to drag it out a touch against the better players. Her recent matches against the likes of Rybakina and Ostapenko both went to three sets, while each of those matches contained more than 21 games. Moreover, two of the previous three hard-court matches between these two have gone the distance, containing 21+ games, so don’t be surprised if there’s no shortage of games here.

Jennifer Brady to Win 2-1 @ 13/5 (3.60)

At the prices, I can’t resist taking the American to get the job done in three sets. The way in which she battled beyond Ostapenko in Montreal tells me that she can do something similar here against Magda Linette who is very close to Ostapenko in the current rankings. Moreover, Brady came out on top in three sets against Linette when the pair met in Cincinnati a few years ago.

Jennifer Brady returned to professional tennis for the first time since August of 2021 back in July of this year. Away from the courts for nearly two years, she returned with a win at Challenger level in Canada, before going on to beat the likes of Kalinina and Ostapenko at WTA level earlier this month. She’s now back at a venue where she’s thrived before having reached the semi-finals of the 2020 US Open and could well thrive once again.

Magda Linette preview

Magda Linette, who is now ranked 24th in the world according to the WTA rankings, played a few decent matches at Wimbledon, before being knocked out by Belinda Bencic, though the 31-year-old hasn’t exactly thrived since switching to a hard surface of late. She lost to both Azarenka and Li, before beating world number 92 Sasnovich in the first round of this competition last time out. That was an improvement, but she may need to improve again to get beyond a defiant and determined Jennifer Brady.

Brady vs Linette head to head

This will be the fifth time that Brady and Linette have faced each other on the court. Of the previous four matches, Brady has won three, winning when the pair last met back in 2020.
