Jason Kubler has given a decent account of his abilities but it is difficult to rule against Dusan Lajovic in his current form. The Serbian ace was just crowned Banja Luka champion, his second triumph on the clay court in six months following. Kubler was handed a tough draw against Lorenzo Musetti and was easily routed by the spirited Italian. A similar fate awaits him in the Madrid Open first round against the dogged Lajovic. In his three-set affair with Andrey Rublev, the Serbian ace saved five of the eight breakpoints he allowed. The 32-year-old should be well-rested for his duel and we are backing him to make little work of Kubler and earn a 2-0 victory over him.

Following his early ousting from Miami Open, Jason Kubler stayed back in the US and participated in the lesser-known clay court events. He reached the quarter-finals in both Houston and Sarasota but not further. His arrival on European shores did not go as planned, getting knocked out by an in-form Lorenzo Musetti in the second round of the Barcelona Open.

The Serbian ace defeated compatriot Novak Djokovic and claimed it was the best moment of his career. A couple of days later, he was crowned Banja Luka champion, defeating Monte Carlo Masters winner Andrey Rublev in the final. It was his second career title and puts him in good stead in the fourth Masters 1000 event of the ATP circuit.
