The semi-final we all wanted at the 2024 Cincinnati Open has come to fruition. It’s Sinner vs Zverev in what should be a great contest. As for my tennis predictions today for this one, check them out below.
Our favourite Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev predictions
Contents
As the top seed and world number one, many are backing Sinner for the win in the Cincinnati Open semi-finals. But Zverev has looked formidable this week, especially in his quarter-final win over Ben Shelton. That said, what are the best markets to cover for this battle?
Three total sets @ 11/8 (2.38)
If I had to pick a winner, I would probably go with Zverev for the upset in this clash. But since this is a very tricky one to call, I feel there is better value in backing the match to go the distance. Sure, this is also a ‘risky’ play, but there is at least a decent chance these two will split sets.
Zverev to win a set – yes @ 3/5 (1.60)
Because Zverev has beaten Jannik Sinner on four separate occasions, it feels logical to back the German to take a set here. This is all the more likely when you consider how dangerous his serve is, which almost guarantees him a tie-break or two in a three-set match.
Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev odds
Looking at the most recent odds, it appears Sinner has a 67.70% chance of winning this match. In contrast, the probability for Zverev is 40%.
Sinner vs Zverev – a semi-final that promises fireworks
Before betting on the markets suggested above, let me share some extra details on these two.
Jannik Sinner preview
As the world number one, Jannik Sinner is always going to be the favourite ahead of these kinds of matches. Of course, there are very few better than Sinner from the baseline right now. And given the tricky conditions in Cincinnati, this will also work in his favour against a guy like Zverev. As for his results this week, he hasn’t truly been tested with the exception of the quarters against Rublev.
Alexander Zverev preview
Zverev has come out fighting in Cincinnati after a disappointing quarter-final exit in Montreal last week. It seems that he has put that loss behind him, and he has been tested every step of the way at the Cincinnati Open. Then again, he has passed all of those tests with flying colours – taking out Shelton, Carreno Busta, and Khachanov to reach the semis. Zverev will fancy his chances, too, based on his head-to-head against Sinner.
Sinner vs Zverev head to head
Despite what many would think, it’s actually Zverev who holds a commanding H2H record against Sinner. The German has a 4-1 record over the current world number one, and the only time he has lost to Sinner was in their first meeting. Bear in mind this was back in 2020 at Roland Garros, which is a long time ago.
