Andy Murray’s impressive early season form has continued so far this week at Indian Wells after navigating his way past Tomás Martín Etcheverry and Radu Albot in the opening two rounds. Those two victories have earned him a third-round match with Jack Draper in a game being dubbed “the battle of Britain.” Below are our predictions for the match.
These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.
Jack Draper vs Andy Murray – Match Predictions

Andy Murray to win
Both men are at opposite ends of their careers but Murray’s recent resurgence means that this is a very close one to call. While Jack Draper has all the tools to go to become a top-10 player, Murray has experience on his hands and the skills that have seen him win three grand slam titles. We believe that Murray is going to continue his recent run of form and edge out Draper, who could be overawed by the occasion.
Although Draper overcame Dan Evans in round two, this is the first tournament that he has played since losing in round one of the Australian Open. Murray has been more active and has been playing the best tennis of his post-metal hip career.
Total games – over 22.5
Murray’s victory over Radu Albot was his first straight-sets victory since October 2022. He has made a habit of competing in marathon games throughout his career but recently this pattern has been on another level. Regardless of the outcome, you would be foolish to back this game lasting less than 22 games.
Jack Draper vs Andy Murray Preview
With our predictions locked in, let’s take a closer look at both players and their careers.
Jack Draper
At the age of 21, Jack Draper is the heir to the Andy Murray throne in British men’s tennis. He has enjoyed a decent start to life as a professional and made it up to 38th in the world earlier this year. Injury after the Australian Open has seen him drop down to 56th in the world, however, but he will be hoping that he can break into the top 25 at some point this year.
The furthest he has ever gone in an ATP 1000 event is the quarter-finals and he requires just two more wins this week to equal that feat.
Andy Murray
Andy Murray has had an incredible career as a professional tennis player, winning three grand slams and spending significant time as the world number one. Since 2019, however, he has simply been happy to still be competing after serious surgery left him with a metal hip.
After a series of miraculous matches at the Australian Open in January, it feels like the 35-year-old has found an extra gear and has been performing at a higher level. This year he has enjoyed notable victories over the likes of Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini.
Jack Draper vs Andy Murray Head to Head
Draper and Murray have only ever played each other in an Exhibition match in London. On that occasion, Murray came out on top in three sets.
