My tennis predictions today are heating up as the business end of the 2024 Acapulco Open approaches. This time out, I’ve looked into the upcoming semi-final between Jack Draper and the 3rd seed, Alex de Minaur. And I’ve established several predictions for you to consider backing – read on for a full breakdown.
Our favourite Jack Draper vs Alex de Minaur predictions
Contents
As an unseeded player, nobody expected Jack Draper to feature in the semi-finals of the Acapulco Open. However, as my initial ATP Acapulco Open preview pointed out, de Minaur was always a potential title contender.
But at this stage in the event, anything can happen, although for me, there are enough facts and figures to justify the following predictions for this match:
De Minaur to win @ 7/10 (1.70)
As it stands, de Minaur has a 2-0 head-to-head record against Jack Draper. And while their matches have been close, this certainly gives de Minaur the upper hand mentally. Furthermore, de Minaur blitzed his way through the first two rounds, and he scored a big win against Tsitsipas in the quarter-final. So in my opinion, he will be the victor here.
De Minaur -2.5 games handicap @ 21/20 (2.05)
With a mere -2.5 games to put between himself and Draper for this market to be a winner, I have to shoot for this one since I believe de Minaur will win. Additionally, de Minaur is consistent enough to put Draper under pressure in many service games. This could help the Aussie secure at least a couple of breaks and push this market over the line.
Jack Draper vs Alex de Minaur odds
The win probability for Draper here is 47.60%, whereas de Minaur boasts an implied chance of 58.80%.
Acapulco action tonight – will de Minaur secure his hat trick over Draper?
To ensure you have all of the necessary details when making your wagers, I want to supply some quick and relevant information for each guy now.
Jack Draper preview
Draper is ranked 50 in the world at the moment, which is significantly lower than de Minaur, who is ranked inside the top 10. That said, he’s taken out a couple of top players quite convincingly to reach the semis this week, as seen by his destruction of Tommy Paul and Miomir Kecmanovic. So clearly, he’s in great form!
Alex de Minaur preview
While Draper is in top form at the moment, unfortunately for the young Brit, so too is Alex de Minaur. He made the finals in Rotterdam just a couple of weeks back, and he’s into yet another semi-final here. At the same time, he just beat Stefanos Tsitsipas, who, for me, is a better player than Jack Draper.
Draper vs De Minaur head to head
De Minaur has the edge against Draper in the head-to-head standings. He holds a 2-0 lead over the British player, although, in their last meeting in 2023, de Minaur won by a score of 7-6 in the final set!
