Iga Swiatek vs Emma Raducanu – Match Predictions
Raducanu has a losing record against her Polish rival and will be looking to put her straight sets defeats behind her in this Indiana Wells duel.
Over 18.5 Games
Swiatek made little work of Raducanu in their two meetings till-date, triumphing in straight sets at each time of asking. The world number 1 enters this meeting as bookmakers’ favourite and should cruise to victory. However, the English star will not be an easy turnover and should get be able to get games of her rival. Raducanu should force the issue based on her current form, reminiscent of their duel in Stuttgart last April which went Over 19.5 games, making our Over 18.5 games prediction a cautious call in retrospect.
2-1 to Swiatek
Raducanu has not taken a set away from Swiatek in their two duels. She is an underdog in this meeting but will take heart from her 6-1, 2-6 and 6-4 victory over WTA 13th-ranked Beatriz Haddad Maia in the previous round. Swiatek was made to sweat by Bianca Vanessa Andreescu in the last round and can drop a set if the Englishwoman is at her pristine. It will be a competitive meeting, one that should see both ladies on parity after two sets. However, it will be Swiatek who claims the bragging rights at the end.
Iga Swiatek vs Emma Raducanu Preview
Despite the odds, both women have started the 2023 campaign in good form and will test each other’s abilities in this quarter-final meeting. Let’s take a closer look at each player.
The 21-year-old sensation made little work of Bianca Vanessa Andreescu and Claire Liu in the previous rounds. Swiatek is still reeling from her Dubai Open defeat to Barbora Krejcikova and only a triumphant run at Indian Wells will quench her thirst. She should have enough in the tank to get over her English rival, one who she has disposed of with ease in their last two duels.
Raducanu has failed to reach the dizzying heights of her 2021 US Open triumph. She bowed out of the Australian Open in the Round of 32 at the hands of Coco Gauff and took an extended break before Indian Wells. She has impressed in California’s weather, getting over higher placed Danka Kovinic, Danka Kovinic and Beatriz Haddad Maia to book her quarter-final place.
Iga Swiatek vs Emma Raducanu Head to Head
The pair played against each other in Stuttgart, where the Polish superstar came out on top in two 6-4 and 6-4 sets. The meeting prior was back in July 2018 and more one-sided as Swiatek triumphed 6-0 and 6-1.
