Svitolina proved she deserved the chance to make it all the way to the quarterfinals. She is coming off an impressive 2-6 6-4 7-6 (11-9) win over Victoria Azarenka in what she called “the second happiest moment” of her life after giving birth. Previously, she defeated Venus Williams, Elise Mertens and Sofia Kenin, losing a set only to Mertens.
Svitolina is currently 76th in the rankings and has a 16-8 record this year, including 4-1 on grass.
