Our favourite Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina predictions
Contents
It feels fitting that the Qatar Open 2024 is set to end with the 1st seed taking on the 3rd seed. Of course, the top seed is Swiatek, the world number one, while the third seed is Rybakina, who is seeking a second title in as many weeks. But can she do it or will Swiatek beat her for just the second time in her career?
The following predictions provide the answer.
Swiatek to win @ 10/21 (1.48)
In the past, Rybakina has been a bit of a kryptonite for Swiatek, especially in 2023. Yet, based on Swiatek’s form during the Qatar Open, I truly think this time she will take down Rybakina. I say this because Swiatek has barely been losing games, while Rybakina has gone close with players who are nowhere near Swiatek in terms of ability.
Swiatek -2.5 games handicap @ 7/10 (1.70)
Assuming Swiatek is to win the match, I believe that it’s logical to shoot for Swiatek to score a -2.5 games handicap too. For this to occur, she only needs to put 3 games between herself and Rybakina when the final ball is struck. And really, even if she wins in three sets, this market has a good chance to pull through.
Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina odds
The probability for Swiatek to win this match is 67.70%. In contrast, Rybakina has a 40.80% chance to emerge with the victory.
Rybakina or Swiatek for the title at the Qatar Open?
If you read my Qatar Open preview prior to the event, you’ll know that Rybakina was my tip for the title. However, the following previews for each player put a slightly different spin on that.
Iga Swiatek preview
When Swiatek hits top gear, I question whether anyone on the WTA Tour can hang with her. She just has the ability to raise her level and intensity to such a degree that she becomes unstoppable, as her three straight-set wins have proven in Qatar. However, she’ll need to overcome a few demons here as she’s lost to Rybakina three times in a row.
Elena Rybakina preview
Rybakina is in fine form at the moment. With a title last week, followed by a finals appearance here, she’s obviously feeling good on the court. Furthermore, she beat Swiatek three times in 2023 alone, which will fill her with confidence. That said, she’s had to fight to make the finals here, so she may be fatigued both mentally and physically.
Swiatek vs Rybakina head to head
As things stand, Rybakina holds a 3-1 lead against Swiatek concerning head-to-head matches. All three wins came in the 2023 season, too, and two of them were straight-set victories.
