The first-round matches have largely been concluded at the French Open at this point. This means the second-round contests are set, and I’ve got some tennis predictions today for Hurkacz vs Nakashima in the men’s singles event. Check out all of the details below.
Our favourite Hubert Hurkacz vs Brandon Nakashima predictions
Contents
If you look through the 2024 French Open draw, there aren’t many players who are more dangerous than Hubert Hurkacz. The Polish player has a booming serve and a huge forehand, which is why he’s considered a major threat. But he didn’t look too sharp in his opener, which makes the upcoming clash with Nakashima an interesting one.
With that in mind, I’ve landed on the following predictions for this game:
Nakashima to win a set – yes @ 2/5 (1.40)
I wouldn’t normally choose Nakashima to get a set from Hurkacz. But the American looked decent in his first round win. Additionally, if Hurkacz takes a while to settle, as he did in round one, I think Nakashima could take advantage and snag a set – probably the first set (if any).
Hurkacz to win 3-1 @ 13/5 (3.60)
If Nakashima does take a set from Hurkacz in this match, I think this will push Hurkacz to raise his game – as he has done many times in the past. Assuming this possibility unfolds in round two, I expect Hurkacz to step things up and take down Nakashima in four sets. Of course, this is a riskier play than the first market, but the potential returns are well worth it!
Hubert Hurkacz vs Brandon Nakashima odds
Hurkacz has an implied probability of 76.90% to win this match compared to just a 29.40% chance for Nakashima – as per the most recent moneyline odds.
Hurkacz desperate for easier second round match against Nakashima
You’ve got my predictions mapped out above. But now, let’s discuss each individual in more detail.
Hubert Hurkacz preview
Hurkacz has been in good form throughout the 2024 clay court swing. He’s played well in the build-up events, and he’s destroyed the likes of Nadal in recent weeks. But he looked surprisingly shaky in round one, requiring five sets to beat a qualifier. Then again, the first rounds are never easy, and I expect the 8th seed to recover here and produce a much better performance.
Brandon Nakashima preview
Nakashima might not be on the radar as a deep-draw contender at the French Open. But the American can play some decent tennis on the clay, which is why I’ve picked him to snag a set from Hurkacz in this encounter. That said, he is ranked significantly lower than Hurkacz at 84 in the world.
Hurkacz vs Nakashima head to head
Despite the length of time these guys have been around as top 100 players, they’ve never faced one another on the ATP Tour. Of course, this makes the head to head 0-0.
