The dangerous American, Sebastian Korda, is taking on the number 2 seed at the Marseille Open, Grigor Dimitrov. This is a very tasty match-up, especially with the underdog holding a 1-0 head-to-head lead over Dimitrov. But what are my tennis predictions today ahead of this game? Find out below.
Our favourite Grigor Dimitrov vs Sebastian Korda predictions
Contents
Both of these guys are fantastic players, and they have the kind of game that could take them all the way to the title here. However, Korda has been on the comeback from injury of late, while Dimitrov has been playing some of the greatest tennis of his career. This makes for an interesting second-round match, and I’ve provided my predictions for this one here.
Dimitrov to win @ 8/15 (1.53)
I’m surprised by the value provided by the odds on Dimitrov to simply win this match. While yes Korda has beaten him in the past, Dimitrov has been in a different league from the American in recent months. Nevertheless, I won’t argue with such long odds given how likely it is that Grigor Dimitrov will win this game!
Dimitrov to win 2-0 @ 13/10 (2.30)
If you want to play things somewhat riskier for this one, I believe that backing Dimitrov to win 2-0 is a good call. For starters, Dimitrov has lost just one match all season, which was a surprise defeat to Borges in Australia. Additionally, he has a tournament win under his belt this season.
So if he brings the kind of form he’s been in recently, he can certainly take out Korda in straight sets.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Sebastian Korda odds
As the underdog, the chance of Korda winning this match is 42.10%. But for Dimitrov’s win probability, this is 65.20%.
Dimitrov to dispatch Korda in round two of the 2024 Marseille Open?
If you tracked my initial Marseille Open preview, you’ll know that I’ve tipped Dimitrov as a possible tournament winner. But to keep things fair to both, I’ve given a quick preview ahead of this match.
Grigor Dimitrov preview
Because of his form in 2024, Dimitrov is ranked 13 in the world right now. He has looked confident in his matches of late, and he is finally showing the kind of tennis we all thought he could produce back in the day. Of course, he’s the number 2 seed too, so the odds are in his favour.
Sebastian Korda preview
Korda’s return in 2024 has been a little patchy, to be perfectly honest. He lost in the first round of Brisbane before reaching the semis of Adelaide, and he scored a couple of decent wins in Melbourne. However, when he faced Rublev in Melbourne, who was playing at a similar level to Dimitrov, he was defeated comfortably.
Dimitrov vs Korda head to head
The one thing that Korda will cling to coming into this match is that he holds a 1-0 head to head record against Dimitrov. But this was a three-set victory coming in 2022, so times have certainly changed since then.
