The man who we highlighted in our original Miami Open 2024 preview is in the final. Jannik Sinner has officially made back to back 1000-level finals in just a couple of short weeks, and he faces Dimitrov for the title. But who will bring home the glory? Let’s find out.
Our favourite Grigor Dimitrov vs Jannik Sinner predictions
Contents
The Miami Open has been full of twists and turns, and we now have the 11th seed taking on the 2nd seed in the final. Sinner was expected to make it this far, while Dimitrov probably wasn’t – at least not by the majority of tennis fans. However, he’s played sublime tennis all week to set up a clash against Sinner on Sunday.
As for my tennis predictions today that you can cover, let me reveal those now.
Dimitrov to win a set – yes @ 21/20 (2.05)
As you may be aware, Dimitrov took out Carlos Alcaraz in the quarters in straight sets. He then overcame Zverev in the semis on Friday – a man who he had previously lost to seven times in a row. So his confidence must be sky-high right now, and with the way he’s playing, he can certainly take a set from Sinner.
Dimitrov +4.5 games handicap @ 1/2 (1.50)
The odds for this market aren’t quite as high as my first prediction. Then again, the chances of this market pulling through are also much better – theoretically. Of course, Dimitrov only needs to push Sinner close for this market to produce a return, and I definitely believe he can.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Jannik Sinner odds
The probability of Dimitrov winning this match is 26.30%. As for the chance of Sinner winning this one, this is much higher at 80%.
Can Dimitrov stop the Italian Stallion in Miami?
Sinner might be the favourite to beat Dimitrov here. But as the following previews show, it could be closer than many expect.
Grigor Dimitrov preview
Since the back end of the 2023 season, Dimitrov has found his mojo on the tennis court. He seems confident and self-assured in big matches right now, hence he’s beaten Alcaraz and Zverev to make the finals here. Additionally, he lost to Sinner in a tight three-setter in their last meeting, so he clearly has what it takes to cause problems for the Italian.
Jannik Sinner preview
There’s no denying that Jannik Sinner is the man of the moment right now. He’s lost just one match all season, which was to Carlos Alcaraz in the Indian Wells final. And in the 2024 Miami Open, he’s dropped just one set en route to the finals. This included an emphatic win against Medvedev in the semis, so he will definitely fancy his chances against Dimitrov.
Dimitrov vs Sinner head to head
Sinner has the edge over Dimitrov with a 2-1 head-to-head record. Both of these wins came in 2023, too, while Dimitrov beat Sinner back in 2020. Additionally, two of their three meetings have been decided in a final set.
