Our favourite Grigor Dimitrov vs Christopher O’Connell predictions

This will be the second time these two players face each other this season and O’Connell proved to be a tough opponent for Dimitrov who is considered a major favourite in this one.

Grigor Dimitrov 2-0 @ 17/20 (1.85)

Dimtrov is having solid summer behind him despite failing to go all the way to the finals in any of the tournaments. The Bulgarian seems focused and maybe Chengdu will be the place for him to win his first title since 2017. On his way there, Dimitrov have to go past Christopher O’Connell in the quarterfinals. The Australian is not on the level of Dimitrov and the former world No. 3 will win this one in straight sets.

First set over 9.5 games @ 17/20 (1.85)

There is no doubt that Dimitrov is a huge favourite in this match. However, O’Connell has solid serve and will be able to stay close at the beginning of the match. He went over 9.5 games in the first sets of his last five matches and both of the previous matches between him and Dimitrov saw a tiebreak in the opening set. Knowing all that, going over 9.5 games in the first set seems like the right choice.
