The clay court swing is in full flow now on both the ATP and WTA Tours. That’s why we have a bunch of tennis predictions today for you to browse through. But today, I’m covering the first-round clash in Stuttgart between Radacanu and Kerber – check out my tips below.
Our favourite Emma Raducanu vs Angelique Kerber predictions
Contents
I wouldn’t necessarily say that either of these two players are clay court specialists. In fact, both perform better on faster surfaces, such as hard courts and grass. Both players have gained entry to the tournament via a wildcard too, which makes this an intriguing clash.
As for what I expect the outcome to be for this battle, I’ve covered the following two predictions, which show decent value in terms of the potential returns:
Kerber to win @ 13/8 (2.63)
I’m going with Kerber here for a couple of key reasons. Firstly, she’s playing in front of home fans at the Stuttgart Open, which will give her a boost. Secondly, she’s picked up some big wins in events like Indian Wells recently, which shows she’s playing decent tennis.
Over 20.5 games @ 4/5 (1.80)
Although I’ve chosen Kerber to win, to clarify, I don’t expect this match to be a walk in the park – far from it. Emma Raducanu is a threat to anyone if she finds her best tennis, even if she doesn’t love the clay. And that’s why I’m shooting for over 20.5 games in this match.
Emma Raducanu vs Angelique Kerber odds
Raducanu is the favourite for this one with an implied chance of 69.20%. As for Kerber, her probability of victory is 38.10%.
Who will win the battle of the wildcards at the 2024 Stuttgart Open?
This is an important event at this point in the WTA season, and I’d like to look a little closer at both players now.
Emma Raducanu preview
Emma Raducanu is looking better this season than she has in a long time. She looks more at ease on the court, and she’s playing in a nice, relaxed manner. Then again, she’s still ranked outside of the top 300 due to her injury struggles, so it’s obvious she’s still finding her back to where she once was.
Angelique Kerber preview
As a former world number one, Kerber is a veteran of the game. She’s a dangerous lefty, and while clay isn’t her preferred surface, she still has plenty of weapons that can cause problems for the likes of Raducanu. And with wins over the likes of Ostapenko, Martic, and Kudermetova not too long ago, she’s carrying some solid form into this tournament.
Raducanu vs Kerber head to head
Emma Raducanu and Angelique Kerber have never actually competed against one another in a WTA-sanctioned event. This means that we have no head-to-head statistics to analyze or work with ahead of this first-round match.
