Diego Schwartzman vs J.J. Wolf – Match Prediction
Contents
Here at Pundit Feed, we love making tennis predictions. See below for the best two bets we suggest making ahead of this round two clash between Schwartzman and Wolf.
Schwartzman to Win @ 11/8 (2.38)
Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman is actually the moderate underdog here, despite being the 23rd seed. This is because Schwartzman was forced to withdraw from the ASB Classic last week with an injury, and looked relatively unconvincing in his first round win. However, we think the former World No.8 will have too much class for J.J. Wolf here, and will move through to the third round.
Courtesy of the bookies’ doubts, this is actually a reasonably lucrative bet, while still feeling conservative at the same time.
Schwartzman to Win 3-1 @ 5/1 (6.00)
Schwartzman’s opponent is a fighter, and Schwartzman’s opponent is a fighter, and will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a vulnerable second round seed. If the Argentinian is to win this one, it’s unlikely he’ll get away in straight sets. Expect Wolf to put up a fight, and take at least one set off Schwartzman.
We see this going one of two ways—either Schwartzman has a fast start, and fights to close out the match (as he did in the first round), or Wolf has a strong start (as he did in the first round), before Schwartzman out-classes him. Either way, it’s the Argentinian in four.
Diego Schwartzman vs J.J. Wolf Preview
With these bets in mind, here’s a look at the background of each of these two players.
Diego Schwartzman
Argentina’s Schwartzman is currently ranked No.26 in the world, but has been as high as No.8. He’s currently struggling with an injury, and comes into the Australian Open having lost his last eight matches in a row. However, Schwartzman knows how to perform in Grand Slams, making four quarterfinals and a semifinal across his career.
J.J. Wolf
America’s J.J. Wolf is playing some of his best tennis at the moment, with a current ranking of No.67 not far off the 24 year old’s highest ranking of No.56. Having only turned professional in 2019, Wolf is looking to make the third round of a Grand Slam for the third time, while this is already his deepest run in an Australian Open.
