Both players are having a chance for significant success after a while, and this will be a great fight. Shapovalov is the better overall player, but he lacks stability in the game, something where Barrere will search for his opportunity.
Denis Shapovalov to win
Denis Shapovalov has achieved the biggest success of his career in 2021 when he made it all the way to the Wimbledon semifinals. He is far from that form, but the 24-year-old looked very good in the opening round. Barrere has never made it past the second round of any Grand Slam tournament, so this is definitely a historic opportunity for him. At the end of the day, Shapovalov is the better player and Barrere will have a tough time finding an answer for the quickness of the Canadian and his versatility which at the end will get Shapovalov through to the third round.
Over 40.5 games
As mentioned above, both players will bite strongly in this match. Knowing that neither of them is able to play consistency well throughout the entire match, they will both manage to win at least a set which will take the match over 40.5 games.
