More tennis predictions today are coming your way for the Madrid Open! Right here, I’ve covered the upcoming match between Shapovalov and Zverev, and you can view my tips within the information shared below.

Our favourite Denis Shapovalov vs Alexander Zverev predictions

Shapovalov is in the main draw at the Madrid Open thanks to his protected ranking, but he’s already scored two solid victories. As for Zverev, he is seeded 4th, and he clearly loves the clay in Madrid given that he’s reached the final in the past.

However, past performances aside, I’ve chosen the following two markets for this third-round battle:

Zverev to win 2-0 @ 8/13 (1.62)

I know that Shapovalov has beaten Zverev three times in the past, but things are looking much better for Zverev these days. He’s currently ranked 5 in the world, and he showed his abilities with a convincing win over Coric in round two. For that reason, I think he will take out Shapovalov without too much trouble here.

Zverev -3.5 games handicap @ 8/13 (1.62)

Assuming Zverev gets the job done in straight sets, I’m banking on a -3.5 games spread when all is said and done. I believe this will happen as long as Zverev serves well and manages to keep challenging the Canadian’s serve.

Denis Shapovalov vs Alexander Zverev odds

Based on the most recent odds, Shapovalov’s probability of winning is 23.10%, while the chance of Zverev winning is 83.30%.

Zverev sets sights on another routine victory at the 2024 Madrid Open

Let’s move on now from predictions and run through a couple of previews for both Shapovalov and Zverev before this match begins.

Denis Shapovalov preview

Denis Shapovalov has gained entry into the main draw of the Madrid Open thanks to his protected ranking. This shows how much time he’s spent away from the top of the game, and he is still finding his way back to top form. However, he has produced back-to-back wins to reach round three against difficult opponents, so things are looking up. But I question whether he is quite ready to challenge a player like Zverev on the clay.

Alexander Zverev preview

On his day, I believe that Alexander Zverev is one of the best clay court players in the world. This is confirmed by his results on clay throughout his career, and more recently, he showed his level on the surface with a 2-0 win over Coric. For me, his level against Coric was impressive in round two, and if he brings that kind of tennis against Shapovalov, I can see a routine victory on the cards.

Shapovalov vs Zverev head to head

The head to head statistics for Shapovalov and Zverev are favourable for the German. He holds a 5-3 head to head record against Shapovalov, and one of these wins was actually at the Madrid Open back in 2018.
