In a repeat of last year’s semi-finals, Medvedev will take on Alcaraz for a spot in the finals at Wimbledon. As for my tennis predictions today ahead of this encounter, I’ve got some exciting tips to share with you. It’s all covered below.
Our favourite Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz predictions
Contents
For the second straight year, Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz will do battle on Centre Court for a place in the Wimbledon finals. Medvedev didn’t fare too well last year, but this year feels different. Both men have battled hard to make it this deep in the tournament, too, and it’s all to play for on Friday.
That said, here are my predictions for this semi-final clash:
Over 39.5 games @ 17/20 (1.85)
While last year’s match ended in a three-set win for Alcaraz, I don’t believe that the same will occur here. Medvedev is just playing too well for a straight-sets win to be the obvious choice. Yet, I also think Alcaraz will ultimately win the match, possibly in four or five sets. Either way, this market has real value.
Medvedev +5.5 games handicap @ 8/13 (1.62)
Although I do think Alcaraz has the edge over Medvedev on grass, there is every chance Medvedev can push the Spaniard close. That’s precisely why I’ve chosen the first market, and with the way he is serving, this second market seems appropriate, too.
Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz odds
The most recent odds for this match show that Medvedev has a 29.40% probability of victory here, while Alcaraz has a higher chance at 77.80%.
Defending champ vs unexpected challenger – prepare for a classic in Wimbledon 2024
As exciting as this match should be, let me give you some extra details before it all begins.
Daniil Medvedev preview
Daniil Medvedev doesn’t really have what I’d call a ‘classic’ grass court game. But like Medvedev across all surfaces, he just seems to make it work. There is something to be said for the fact that he took out Jannik Sinner in the quarters to get here too. Sinner was the man that many tipped for the tournament, but Medvedev played great and set up this bout against Alcaraz.
Carlos Alcaraz preview
Carlos Alcaraz feels like the man to beat at Wimbledon this year. Sure, he’s faced some tough contests en route to the semi-finals, and he has looked like he could fail to defend his title at times. However, in the last couple of rounds, he looks like he’s grown in confidence and found his groove, and he will be quietly confident, given that he beat Medvedev in straight sets last year.
Medvedev vs Alcaraz head to head
Medvedev and Alcaraz have played each other six times in the past. Alcaraz has won 4 of them while Medvedev has won just 2 of them, putting the H2H at 4-2 in Alcaraz’s favour. However, Medvedev did win their last Grand Slam meeting, which was in the US Open semi-finals.
