You will have seen the seeds for this event if you read my initial WTA Dubai Open preview. Of course, Coco Gauff is one of the top seeds – number 3, to be exact. In contrast, Kalinskaya is a qualifier who is ranked 40 in the world. So really, there is a big difference between the two, and the following predictions reflect this difference:

**Gauff to win 2-0 @ 10*/11 (1.91)***

Coco Gauff has fought hard to reach this stage of the 2024 Dubai Open. She battled past Pliskova in the third round in a tight three-set contest, and I’m sure this will give her an added boost ahead of the quarters. This time around, however, she faces a much weaker opponent than Pliskova, which is why I feel she will win in straight sets.

**Under 20.5 games @ 19*/20 (1.95)***

Since I think Gauff will get the job done in straight sets, it makes sense to cover this next market too. With ‘under 20.5 games’ as the criteria here, as long as Gauff secures a single break in each set while avoiding a 7-5 scoreline in either (ideally), this market has a strong chance to turn into a winner.

As a Grand Slam champion who is currently ranked 3 in the world, Gauff is favoured to beat Kalinskaya in the quarter-finals. However, it hasn’t been totally smooth sailing in Dubai, as she went three sets with Pliskova in the previous round. That said, Kalinskaya has won 5 matches to reach this point, so Gauff needs to bring her top level to win this match without any scares.

At 40 in the world, Kalinskaya had to qualify for the Dubai Open. She won 2 matches to achieve this, and she’s since won 3 main draw matches too – taking out the 9th seed, Ostapenko, in the previous round. So she’s obviously playing well, but Gauff presents her biggest test yet.
