Citi Open 2023 Doubles: Contenders, Odds, Predictions

Citi Open 2023 Doubles Predictions

The previous edition of the Citi Open had some exciting moments that went down in history. Austrian player Nick Kyrgios became the first player to win both singles and doubles in the same season.

Coincidentally, Kyrgios teamed up with American Jack Sock. The same combination was successful in the women’s doubles, with Australia’s Erin Routliffe and USA’s Jessica Pegula defeating Anna Kalinskaya and Caty McNally in the final.

McDonald/Shelton vs Gonzalez/Molteni prediction: McDonald/Shelton to Win

The American duo is a clear example of how every opportunity should be taken advantage of. McDonald and Shelton were given a wildcard, and it remains to be seen whether they were successful. One of the things that aided their progression to the final was avoiding the number one seeds in the second round since they will not be able to overcome the first round.

The Argentine day went through a similar process, as they avoided a second round against the number two seeds, who also lost their first game. Until now, each couple has won three times and just once has lost a set.

In addition to losing sets, several of those who won did so in a tiebreak. There were a total of five in the three games played thus far. Ben and McDonald have been the most amazing, and I believe they will be the champions.

Citi Open 2023 Doubles Contenders

Ram / J. Salisbury

Once again the British American duo start as seed 1 in a championship. The last month was not very productive for them, so they will try to add a new title.

Krajicec / M Pavic

The last tournament they played in was Wimbledon, where they barely got past the first round. A disappointing result, considering they had been finalists at Eastbourne.

Glasspool / H. Heliovaara

After their participation at Roland Garros, where they crashed out in the round of 16, the British-Finnish duo will be hoping for a great debut. Also as seeded number 3, the pair will be one of the favourites.

Arevalo / J. Rojer

It has been almost two months since Arevalo and Rojer have had a good result in any event. At the French Open, they both reached the quarter-finals but lost in a super tiebreak. Another title will help them in their fight for the top of the rankings.

Citi Open 2023 Doubles Draws

Citi Open Womens Doubles

The German tennis player Laura Siegemund and the Russian player Vera Zvonareva won the doubles title in Washington after defeating Guarachi and Niculescu in the final. For the Chilean and Romanian players it was a bit disappointing as they had not lost a single set prior to the final and this made them favorites.

In this entertaining Citi Open Doubles Final, the winners converted 3 breakpoints and lost only one serve.

Siegemund/Zvonareva beat Guarachi/Niculescu 6-4 6-4
