Carlos Alcaraz is on top of the ATP rankings and the main favorite to win the National Bank Open. He was pushed to the limit in the previous round, does that mean he is vulnerable against Tommy Paul?
These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Tommy Paul – Match Predictions
This is Alcaraz’s first appearance in Toronto and he is the main favorite to win it. Paul is far from his level but he is one of few players on the tour who has previously defeated the Spaniard.
Carlos Alcaraz -4.5
Carlos Alcaraz needed two tiebreaks to come from behind in the previous match against Hurkacz and he will not allow to be pushed with his back against the wall in this match. Paul is a solid player and has beaten Alcaraz before, but this will be a blow out win for the Spaniard covering the -4.5 games spread.
First set under 9.5 games
Carlos Alcaraz is unbeatable when he is on top of his game and he will show up in that mode today. Paul has reached the quarterfinals but is pretty inconsistent and Alcaraz will take advantage of that and win the first set easily in under 9.5 games in total.
