The 2024 Monte Carlo Masters is getting into full swing at this point. Therefore, I’ve got a handful of tennis predictions today covering the event for key matches. This brings me to the Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassime round two match, for which I’ve given my predictions below.

Our favourite Carlos Alcaraz vs Felix Auger-Aliassime predictions

If you’ve taken a look at my Monte Carlo 2024 preview, you’ll know that I’ve tipped Alcaraz for the title. He just feels like the most in-form and highest-quality clay court player in the draw this year. Then again, Auger-Aliassime has clay court pedigree himself. So what does this mean for my predictions?

Check them out right here:

Alcaraz to win 2-0 @ 10/21 (1.48)

Auger-Aliassime might have won his first round comfortably, but Carlos Alcaraz is a different beast compared to Luca Nardi. He hits heavy from the back of the court, his defensive skills are unbelievable, and he’s got the hands around the net to match. So for me, this match is Alcaraz’s all day long.

Alcaraz -4.5 games handicap @ 8/11 (1.73)

Auger-Aliassime might have Alcaraz’s number in the head to head department. But Alcaraz has smoked the Canadian in their last two meetings. In fact, the most recent of these was in Indian Wells just a few weeks ago, where Alcaraz won 6-2 6-3. This means a -4.5 games handicap for Alcaraz is a good shout for this encounter.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Felix Auger-Aliassime odds

The latest odds suggest Alcaraz has a massive chance of winning this one at 87.50%, whereas Auger-Aliassime has just a 19% probability of beating the 3rd seed.

Alcaraz to establish his dominance in Monte Carlo Masters opener

Let me share some key details for both players before this game arrives.

Carlos Alcaraz preview

Besides Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz is the most in-form player on tour, in my opinion. He won Indian Wells and backed this up by reaching the quarters of the Miami Open. Sure, these were both hard-court events, but he has the ability to adapt his game quickly to the clay. And with his last two commanding victories against Auger-Aliassime, he will definitely fancy his chances here.

Felix Auger-Aliassime preview

There are signs that Auger-Aliassime is finding his mojo again recently. But he is still down at 35 in the world, and I don’t believe he is playing anywhere near the level of tennis that took him into the top 10 previously. Additionally, he’s suffered heavy losses to Alcaraz in recent times, so this may dent his confidence and limit his belief that he can beat the world number 3.

Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassime head to head

Interestingly, Auger-Aliassime has the head-to-head lead against Alcaraz at 3-2. However, two of his three wins were in 2022 on indoor hard courts, while Alcaraz retired mid-match in the other. As for their two outdoor hard court meetings, Alcaraz has won them both in straight sets.
