Top seed Carlos Alcaraz is set to play Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Indian Wells quarter-finals, but who will advance? Check out my two cents below.
These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.
Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassime – Match Predictions
Contents
Carlos Alcaraz is aiming to replicate his success in the 2022 Indian Wells tournament when he plays Auger-Aliassime on March 16th. However, with a 0-3 head-to-head record against the Canadian, things might not be overly simple here. Then again, Alcaraz is in fine form at the moment, and there are clear reasons why he is the number 2 player in the world.
Yet when these guys stand across the net from one another, all of the history and statistics will be irrelevant. It’s going to be a baseline battle, I’m sure, and only one guy will make it through to the semi-finals. So on that note, let me share my thoughts on the best wagers to make for this match.
Over 22.5 Total Games
Realistically, for this prediction to pull through it would be ideal if the match went the distance. But given the form and history between these guys, this is very possible. Alternatively, even a couple of close sets could do the job. For example, if the match finished 7-5 7-5, this market would still be a winner. And I do expect a close contest in this one.
Set Betting – Alcaraz 2-1
To try and get some real rewards when betting on this game, I believe that 2-1 in sets in Alcaraz’s favour is a good call. The odds are high for this pick because Alcaraz has yet to drop a set in Indian Wells 2023. However, Auger-Aliassime has a big enough game to snatch a set from the young Spaniard.
Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassime Preview
Following on from these tennis predictions today, I’d like to give a further report on both guys ahead of this contest.
Carlos Alcaraz Preview
Carlos Alcaraz is the number 2 player in the world right now, and he’s the most talented out of the young guys on the ATP Tour. Additionally, he’s already a Grand Slam champion, and he has previously held the number 1 ranking. As for his performances in Indian Wells, last year he made the semi-finals, so he does like the conditions here.
Felix Auger-Aliassime Preview
In contrast to Alcaraz, Auger-Aliassime lost his opener at Indian Wells in 2022. So this is a much better performance already this year, but he’s had to fight to make the quarter-finals. With that said, he saved 6 match points to beat Tommy Paul in the previous round, which might make him feel invincible in the Canadian desert.
Alcaraz vs Auger-Aliassime Head to Head
This is the section that Auger-Aliassime fans will want to look at. As things stand, Felix Auger-Aliassime has a 3-0 head-to-head lead over Carlos Alcaraz, although one of these was a withdrawal at the 2021 US Open. However, this still means that Auger-Aliassime has won both of their recent encounters, which occurred in 2022. So this will give him a boost heading into this match.
