There are still some exciting third round matches left to play at the BNP Paribas Open. For that reason, I’ve provided some key tennis predictions today that relate to the mouthwatering match between Norrie and Monfils. My tips and the respective odds are detailed below.
Our favourite Cameron Norrie vs Gael Monfils predictions
Contents
Gael Monfils is almost a decade older than Cam Norrie. But based on his performances in Indian Wells so far, you’d never tell. He’s been magnificent so far, and while Norrie is seeded 28, Monfils has never lost to the Brit. This makes the predictions for this game rather intriguing.
So now, regardless of what my original Indian Wells 2024 preview shows, let me share the two most appealing markets for this match.
Monfils to win @ 3/4 (1.75)
Monfils is obviously in the twilight of his tennis career, but the Frenchman still has plenty of life left in him. He dazzled us all in his recent win against Hurkacz, too – the number 8 seed for Indian Wells. Furthermore, I think Hurkacz is a more challenging opponent than Norrie, hence I’m going for Monfils to win.
Monfils -0.5 games handicap @ 4/5 (1.80)
This next market has even more appealing odds than the first. As you can see, the odds are pretty long on Monfils to secure a -0.5 games handicap. But since I’m shooting for Monfils to beat Norrie here, this seems a logical follow-up to the first prediction.
Cameron Norrie vs Gael Monfils odds
Norrie has a 50% chance of victory here based on the latest odds. As for Gael Monfils, the probability that he wins is 57.10%.
Fourth time lucky for Norrie, or another masterclass coming up from Monfils?
As you can see, this is the fourth time these guys will face each other, and Monfils has won all three previous matches. However, the following previews provide a little more insight ahead of this one.
Cameron Norrie preview
There’s no denying that Cam Norrie is one of the top players in the world on his day. He’s consistent, resilient, and he makes you work seriously hard to beat him. But there’s a problem with that – Monfils has the power to hit through Norrie, and the humidity of Indian Wells adds even more bite to the Frenchman’s groundstrokes.
Gael Monfils preview
Monfils hasn’t had the greatest 2024 season so far, but he’s still ranked 54 in the world. Additionally, he’s looked sharp at the BNP Paribas Open so far, dismantling Max Purcell before causing the upset against Hubert Hurkacz in the previous round. Lastly, he beat Norrie towards the end of the 2023 season, so he’ll gain confidence from that victory.
Norrie vs Monfils head to head
Monfils has dominated Norrie so far in their careers. He has beaten Norrie all three times, so he has a 3-0 record over the Brit, although two of these three went down to a deciding set. Most significantly, his last win over Norrie came in Cincinnati last year, which gives him the mental edge.
