In Rio, Norrie lived up to his reputation as he made it to the semi-finals. Fans expected the British number 1 to continue in the same stead at Indian Wells but it did not pan out. With the European clay court swing on the horizon, Norrie has a final opportunity across the Atlantic to give a good account of his abilities.

Miami has not been kind to Norrie and the 31-ranked ATP star has plenty to gain. He could only get 10 points from his second-round exit last year and will surely want to increase his haul. As the 30th seed in the roster at the Hard Rock Stadium, he will be carrying the weight of expectations from fans and neutrals alike.

Cameron Norrie’s next match – Miami Open third-round vs Daniil Medvedev

Norrie made it difficult for himself against Flavio Cobolli as the match stretched into a deciding set. In the end he managed to do just enough to get over the line. A similar performance in his next match will be catastrophic as Daniil Medvedev will be far less forgiving.

The Russian made little work of Marton Fucsovics in his first outing at the Hard Rock Stadium. He finished the match with maximum efficiency as he had done so against Norrie in the past, winning their two duels in straight sets as well.

Cameron Norrie began his 2024 season at the United Cup, where he played a couple of matches. He beat De Minaur and then lost to Talyor Fritz at this tournament. Then, he went to Auckland as a part of his Australian Open preparation and he bet Luca van Assche to get to the quarter-finals, but he had to surrender before the start of the match to Alejandro Tabilo.

At the Australian Open, Norrie had a solid showing, eliminating Varillas, Zeppieri, and Ruud to reach the Fourth Round, where he lost to Alexander Zverev in an exciting match that went to five sets.

Norrie’s next tournament was Buenos Aires Open, where he was shockingly eliminated in the First Round after losing to Federico Coria. The Brit will be hoping for a better result at Rio Open in Brazil, where he’s defending the title.
