It has been a worrisome couple of months for Ben Shelton on the ATP tour. Unable to play on his preferred hard court surface, Shelton has lost six of his last eight matches. In addition to his victory over lucky loser Daniel, he defeated JJ Wolf in the opening round of the Queen’s Club Championships. It will be interesting how he comes out against Djere and whether his big serves can penetrate the Serbian ace’s defence. If he can improve on his efficiency in converting break points a long run at the Championships is likely.
Laslo Djere
The Serbian ace finished the clay court swing on a sour note, a first-round ousting at the hands of Andriy Rublev. Earlier, he had found Casper Ruud in round four of the Rome Masters, while also making it to the finals of the Cagliari Challenger. He defeated Shelton there but will have to be wary of the American as his serve is a much bigger weapon on the green surface. On grass, he has gone past the first round at both Hertogenbosch and Halle but that was the extent of his adventures.
