Marta Kostyuk managed to bounce back after four consecutive losses with a confident win in the opening round in San Diego. Beatriz Haddad Maia is ranked much higher than her and is the favorite to win this match.

Beatriz Haddad Maia to win @ 11/20 (1.55)

Hadad Maia had a tougher match in the opening round but that does not change the fact that she is the better overall player than Kostyuk. The Ukrainian had a good first half of the season but her form has seen a significant drop in the last couple of months. Hadad Maia serves better and can handle pressure much better than Kostyuk which will eventually put her through to the next round.

Over 21.5 games @ 17/20 (1.85)

Kostyuk played pretty well in the opening round which gives her a shot against Haddad Maia. The Brazilian played three sets in four of ther last five matches and that will probably be the case this time as well, which will take the match over 21.5 games in total.
