This Swiss tournament is among the most significant on the European Circuit, concluding the season. Last year, Felix Auger-Aliassime claimed victory in the event.  Can the Canadian repeat his performance? Let’s consider the qualities of the leading seeds and their betting odds for the Basel Open.

Basel Open seeds

Although none of the top 5 in the world will be participating, we will have a good group of top 20 players who are Basel Open favourites to win the title.  Let’s take a look at how each player has done this season and what their Basel Open odds are.

Holger Rune

Last year, the Danish tennis player reached the final but lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime. According to top bookmakers, Holger Rune has a 7.7% chance of winning a new title at the Basel Open. What are the odds for Holger Rune at the Basel Open?

Rune has had a successful year, having entered the top 10 players in the world midway through the season. Nevertheless, he has experienced setbacks over the past three months.

Casper Ruud

Despite being a finalist at Roland Garros, Ruud has been a bit inconsistent this season. The 36 wins he has this season were barely enough to keep him inside the top 10 of the ATP rankings.

In the previous edition of the Swiss tournament, the Norwegian player disappointed by crashing out in the first round to Stan Wawrinka. His Basel Open odds are 7.7%, which is low despite being one of the best in the world.

Taylor Fritz

In August, we witnessed Fritz making it to the semifinals at Cincinnati against Stefanos Tsitsipas and reaching the same stage at the US Open, where he faced off the current world no.1, Novak Djokovic.

Fritz is one of the players who has achieved over 50 wins. Despite the ineffective performance in Asia, Taylor hopes to rediscover their best victory by performing well at the Basel Open.

Hubert Hurkacz

Just over a week ago, Hubert Hurkacz demonstrated once again that few can stop him when he is at his best. The Polish tennis player secured the Shanghai Masters title, marking his second trophy of the year.

So far this year, Hubert Hurkacz has participated in four finals. With 40 victories this season, Hubert is becoming the front-runner for the 2023 Basel Open. The 26-year-old tennis player has a 15.4% chance of success on Swiss soil.

Alex de Minaur

At 24 years old, Alex de Minaur is currently experiencing a peak in his professional tennis career.  In this year alone, he has competed in four finals, with his victory in Acapulco being the only win amidst the Masters 1000 in Toronto. Recently, the Australian athlete secured a duo of triumphs in Tokyo before ultimately exiting the tournament at the quarter-finals stage where he was defeated by Aslan Karatsev.

De Minaur currently holds the rank of 13th in the ATP Rankings. It is improbable that he will reach the top ten by the end of the year, however, it is a goal he may achieve within the first few months of the following year.

Felix Auger-Aliassime

The defending champion aspires to replicate his previous year’s triumphs. Auger-Aliassime rose to a career-best sixth position in the ATP rankings after winning the previous Basel Open edition.

However, he has struggled to win any titles since then, rendering him a non-prominent candidate. Additionally, he has not even advanced to a final round.
