ATP 1000 Paris Masters – Men’s Draw Breakdown

The time has officially arrived – it’s time for the final Masters 1000 tournament of the season. Of course, I am referencing the ATP 1000 Masters event in Paris that is taking place this week. In fact, the qualifying draw has already been played and the main draw is set to begin today. Naturally, with it being a 1000-level event, the big boys of the tour are all involved. Guys like Alcaraz, Djokovic, and Nadal are all playing in Paris this week.

While these guys have all qualified for the End of Year Masters in Turin in just a couple of weeks’ time, for others, this is their last chance to grab points and qualify for that event. Therefore, there is plenty on the line for the Paris Masters event this week. And the tournament itself promises plenty of top-level tennis and a fair bit of drama. On that note, I wanted to discuss the men’s draw before the action actually begins.

Because of that, I’d like to spend a quick bit of time highlighting the seeds, the top matches to watch in the opening rounds, and some other key information. So – let’s get the ball rolling right now.

ATP Paris Masters – Key Matches, Top Seeds, and Potential Blockbusters

As you may already know by the grading of the tournament, there are 1000 points up for grabs in the Paris Masters this week. It’s an indoor hard-court tournament, and the champion last year was Novak Djokovic. Of course, the indoor hard courts here do favour the flatter and faster hitters of the ball, yet sometimes, those who like to grind can get a bit of success too. Either way, the tournament promises some truly awesome tennis, and the draw is shaping up nicely.

Top Seeds

With his newfound position on top of the tennis world, it is Carlos Alcaraz who goes into this Masters level event as the top seed. This is actually the first time he enters an event of this magnitude as the top seed. And it’s crazy to think that he only won his first Masters event earlier this year. After Alcaraz, we have Nadal seeded two, Djokovic seeded three, and Medvedev seeded four. So clearly, all of the big guns are in there with a shot at winning the event.

Best Opening Games

Looking at matches that have already been confirmed, there are a few mouthwatering contests to pay attention to. Personally, I think that Holger Rune vs Stanislas Wawrinka has the potential to be a great match. Both guys are huge hitters of the ball. And after those players, we have top matches in the form of Murray vs Simon, as well as Shapovalov vs Cerundolo. All of these are first-round games.

Potential Blockbusters

I may as well pay attention to the game that everyone is talking about. Djokovic and Nadal are seeded in the same half of the draw, since they are seeded as 3rd and 2nd, respectively. Of course, with that being the case, these two could play each other in the semi-finals, assuming they both make it there.
